Finish Carpentry
Finish Carpentry
Window casings, baseboards, door installation and casings.
Clean lines, tight joints, proper reveals. We work to the finish, not around it — doors hung plumb and true, casings scribed to real walls that are never perfectly flat. No filler, no caulk lines doing structural work.
(No engineering hint needed here — keep it pure craft talk)
Raised panels, board and batten, wainscoting, full-height architectural paneling.
Higher-end installations where the wall prep, blocking, and substrate matter as much as the panel itself. We assess what's behind the wall before we start — whether that's blocking that needs adding, a moisture issue worth flagging, or a detail your designer specified that needs a practical interpretation on site.
(Subtle: "what's behind the wall" nods to awareness without overclaiming)
Cedar shingle and shake cladding, exterior wall assemblies.
We've built and clad exterior walls from the framing out — sheathing, weather barrier, and finished cedar envelope. We understand how these assemblies need to breathe, drain, and perform over time, and we're comfortable working from architectural drawings or coordinating details with your envelope consultant where the project calls for it.
(Here the building science / drawing literacy fits naturally — exterior assemblies have real technical consequence)
Pressure treated, composite, and hardwood deck builds. Fencing and privacy screens.
Decks involve footings, ledger connections, and framing that has to be right before anything pretty happens on top. We're comfortable with the structural side of a deck build — sizing members, understanding load paths, knowing when a footing needs to go deeper — so the finish work sits on something solid. Permit requirements in Toronto vary by size and attachment; we'll flag what applies before you've committed to a layout.
(This one earns the structural and permit mention cleanly — decks genuinely require it)
IKEA, semi-custom, and prefab cabinet systems. Full kitchen refreshes and gut renovations.
Layout, leveling, modifications, and finish integration — we install kitchens that look built-in rather than assembled. On more involved scopes — bulkhead removal, soffit work, opening a wall between kitchen and living space — we're comfortable assessing what's structural and what isn't, coordinating with your plumber or electrician, or flagging a permit question before it becomes a mid-project surprise. Sink and faucet rough-in installs we handle in-house on smaller jobs.
